Walking Occupation – RVA march 2 DC

Occupy the Highway

In solidarity with a group marching from Occupy Wall Street to Washington D.C., a group from Richmond will march to D.C. and meet them there.

We will leave on November 16 November 17 and arrive in D.C. on November 22, the same day OWS is getting there.

On November 23, we will have joined all of the other occupiers and march on the White House.

Afterwards, what you do is up to you. Stay in DC, march to another occupation, or return to your home occupation.

We will be marching an average of 20 miles a day.

This is a walking occupation, we will be holding general assemblies to address group decisions.

Please join us.

We are making a call to all occupations in the south to come to Richmond and march with us.

If you cannot march the whole trip, join us for however long you can.

If you cannot march with us, we can still use your support.

There are many things we need; food, supplies, emergency contacts, etc.

Please check our needs list.

Statement from NYCmarch2DC:

“The plan is to make it to DC on November 23 for the Congressional Super Committee meeting which will be deciding whether the Bush tax cuts to the top 1% will stay or go. We want these cuts gone! We are taking action to fight for the 99%! Please join us if you are able. Whether for an hour, a day, or the full two weeks, we feel it’s imperative for OWS to respect and participate in the historical significance of long distance marches to support, promote, and encourage economic and human equality. ”
